Candidates

Bill Northey

For Secretary of Agriculture 2010
Iowa
Huck PAC and Governor Mike Huckabee are proud to endorse Bill Northey Iowa Secretary of Agriculture for re-election.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey is a fourth-generation Iowa farmer that grows corn and soybeans on his farm near Spirit Lake. He started farming with his grandfather, Sid Northey, after graduating from Iowa State University in 1981.

A sovereign nation must be able to do three things: feed itself, fuel itself and fight for itself. Bill Northey understands this better than anyone else and as Secretary of Agriculture recognizes the importance of renewable energy and ending our dependency on foreign energy.

Elected Secretary of Agriculture in November of 2006 Northey ran on a platform of expanding opportunities in renewable energy, promoting conservation and stewardship, and telling the story of Iowa agriculture.

Chuck Grassley

For United States Senate 2010
Iowa
I am pleased to endorse my good friend, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley for re-election to the United States Senate. Chuck Grassley has earned our support. He is a common sense conservative who works hard to promote our values of low taxes and limited government in Washington. I know that we can count on Chuck Grassley to continue his rigorous government oversight. He is a leader when it comes to shedding light on the federal bureaucracy and bringing transparency to the people's business.

Senator Grassley is a native Iowan. He has been active in politics since 1959, serving in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1959 until 1974, when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, where he served three terms. He was first elected to the United States Senate in 1980 and is presently 11th in seniority in the Senate. In fact, he recently cast his 10,000th vote in the Senate, joining only 28 other senators in history to achieve that milestone.

Chuck Grassley provides common sense answers and solutions for the important issues of our day. He knows that higher taxes kill jobs. All of the bailouts in the world can't create jobs if taxes are increased to pay for them. Chuck is also one of our foremost experts in the Senate on energy. He recognizes that affordable fuel for our automobiles and power for our homes is critical. Senator Grassley advocates developing each and every resource we have. Ethanol, cola, natural gas, nuclear and petroleum resources must be developed. Chuck views the "so-called cap and trade" scheme as a guarantee of drastically higher costs for families and small businesses in America.

Chuck Grassley is a member of several important Senate committees including: Finance, Judiciary, Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, Budget and the Joint Committee on Taxation. His experience, coupled with his pragmatic, common sense approach to government is needed now more than ever in Washington.

If you asked Senator Grassley, I am sure he would be the first to say that we don't always agree on every issue, we do however share the same traditional values and we both love Iowa very much. He is an effective advocate for family values-being 100% pro-life and pro-marriage.

I urge you to support Senator Chuck Grassley for re-election to the United States Senate from Iowa.

Thank you for your help.

Mike Huckabee

Team Huck Iowa Newsletter

Dear Team Huck Iowa,

We are now less than two weeks out from the Iowa GOP primary and we have two Huck PAC candidates on that ballot.  Bob Vander Plaats for Governor and Wes Enos for State Senate district 21.  If you are unable to vote in the June 8 primary or want to secure your vote today please click here to request an absentee ballot.  It is quick and easy and no waiting in line!

Bob Vander Plaats continues to have incredible grassroots support and it's building momentum heading into the primary.  To be a part of this please sign up on his website to volunteer for door knocking and/or phone calling.  We at Team Huck are well aware how important it is to have these boots on the ground because it is the blood, sweat, and tears of the grassroots that wins elections!

There are two free events coming up for Bob Vander Plaats that I would like to make you aware of:

1.  Team Huck member Randy Davis is hosting an event in Ottumwa at the Bridge View Center (102 Church St.) on Tuesday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m.

2.  We are honored to have actor, author, and pro-family conservative activist Chuck Norris in Iowa on June 4 and 5 to campaign with our Huck PAC candidate for Governor Bob Vander Plaats and to put his campaign's momentum into over-drive for the June 8 Republican primary.

As many of you remember, Chuck Norris supported Governor Huckabee's bid for President of the United States and was in Iowa stumping for him in the days leading up to the 2008 Iowa Caucuses. Mr. Norris has also thrown his support behind Bob Vander Plaats and will be making a special trip to our state with his wife, Gena, in the crucial days before we choose our nominee to take on Governor Culver in the fall.

There will be four stops for the Norris/Vander Plaats rallies across Iowa in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, West Des Moines, and Council Bluffs and they are free and open to the public.

Davenport Rally
June 4 at Noon
LeClaire Park on the Mississippi River in downtown Davenport

Cedar Rapids Rally
June 4 at 5:30 p.m.
at the hotel at Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd., SW, in Cedar Rapids

West Des Moines Rally
June 5 at 10:30 a.m.
Jordan Park Camp, 2251 Fuller Road, West Des Moines

Council Bluffs Rally
June 5 at 4:30 p.m.
The Bluffs Center, 714 S. Main St., Council Bluffs

Hinton (by Sioux City)
June 5 7 p.m.
Hinton High School, 315 W. Grand Ave., Hinton

Please get your free tickets to the rally of your choice here.

Along with these two Iowa endorsements, Governor Huckabee and Huck PAC are making endorsements all over the country.  The candidates the Governor is choosing to endorse are strong conservatives in ALL areas and they are candidates who represent we the people and not the party establishment.  I encourage you to visit the Huck PAC website frequently to see what Governor Huckabee is doing across the nation to send principled conservatives to state and federal governments in November.  Huck PAC currently has a 5,000 donation goal by the end of May and they are almost there.  Will you help?

Team Huck Iowa Newsletter

Dear Team Huck Iowa,

The countdown is on for the Republican primary on June 8!  You already know that there is one Huck PAC endorsed candidate on that ballot (Bob Vander Plaats for Governor) but there has recently been another endorsement by Governor Huckabee in an Iowa primary.  Wes Enos has been endorsed by Huck PAC and he is running for Iowa Senate district 21 which includes eastern Polk County and most of Jasper County.  You can learn more about Wes Enos on his website.

As we are nearing the primary I am helping the Vander Plaats campaign round up volunteers who are interested in helping them ensure Bob's victory on June 8.  These volunteer opportunities include placing signs in your yard, phone calling (which can be done out of the comfort of your own home and all the information is sent to you), and on the ground work such as going door to door.  Please email lorijungling@huckpacvolunteer.com and let me know which of these opportunities interests you.  And the last way to lift Bob Vander Plaats to victory on June 8, which is perhaps the easiest thing to do, is to get two other people to vote for him that day.  That's what grassroots is all about!

The other thing I wanted to let you know about is the upcoming gubernatorial debates.  There has already been one debate in Sioux City that Bob did extremely well in.  The next debate is May 1 in Cedar Rapids and the last one is in Des Moines on May 20.  These debates are usually shown in their viewing areas, on IPTV, or you can watch them live online.  Bob Vander Plaats' website gives detailed information on the debates when the time approaches.  Help cheer Bob on and tell your friends and family to watch!

As supporters of Huck PAC you should be very proud of the way that Governor Huckabee's PAC conducts itself.  When compared to other PACs it gives the highest percentage of its money to candidates and it also does best at focusing its resources on non-federal races, such as local and state candidates.  Mike Huckabee realizes the importance of implementing conservative change from the bottom up.  It is at the local and state level where we can make the most difference to take this country back!

Also, one of Huck PAC's priorities is involving the grassroots because the Governor understands the impact of everyday people on the political landscape.  Huck PAC has just recently started a new initiative and it is a Border Security Petition.  The current administration has failed to enforce laws and protect our borders and it is time to let them know.  Sign the petition and pass it on.

Thank you for all that you do.  I have already seen an amazing response to volunteer requests.  Without you, none of this is possible.

Iowa Newsletter

Dear Team Huck Iowa,

Now that 2010 is in full swing and the Iowa legislative session is starting up along with the Republican primary coming on June 8 and then the general election in November we will have a lot of opportunity to make a difference!  You will see a lot of focus on pressuring our lawmakers to let us perform our constitutional right and let us vote on an Iowa Marriage Amendment.  We have one of our endorsed candidates, Bob Vander Plaats, involved in the gubernatorial primary in June and two of our other endorsed candidates, Chuck Grassley-U.S. Senate and Bill Northey-Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, up for re-election in November.

There are two action items coming up that I invite you to be involved in:

1.  On January 12th Let Us Vote Iowa will be holding a rally at the capitol to show lawmakers, the judges, and Governor Culver that we have a right to vote on a Marriage Amendment.  You can find out the details here.

2.  On January 23rd there will be the Republican Caucuses across the state.  By being involved in the caucuses you are letting your voices by heard within the Iowa GOP and making sure that the issues you care about and the principles you stand for are being represented.  You can find out details on your caucus here.

A few things on our Huck PAC endorsed candidates in Iowa.  Sen. Chuck Grassley will be visiting 21 counties during his January break and he may be coming to your area so can speak with him.  You can see his schedule here.  The Bob Vander Plaats campaign is revving up for phone calls and is looking for volunteers to call from their Des Moines office.  Please email me at lorijungling@huckpacvolunteer.com if you are interested.

Let's make it a great 2010!

Dear Team Huck Iowa,

Just a short update for you during this busy season.

Huck PAC is currently involved in the December Challenge fundraising campaign in which the goal is $50,000.  As I write this we are two-thirds of the way there!  If you haven't donated to Huck PAC yet this month you can contribute here knowing that you will be helping conservative candidates and issues prevail across the country.

Huck PAC has also launched a new petition campaign to "Defend Marriage" which encourages the President and members of Congress to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act.  The goal is 50,000 signatures and I encourage you to add your name here.

We have had some Team Huck events for our endorsed candidate Bob Vander Plaats recently and one of them hosted by Iowa Coordinator Randy Davis drew almost 200 people in the Wapello county area.  It is encouraging to see everyday people getting active in politics to make a difference for our state and country!

I would also like to add that in addition to being endorsed by Governor Mike Huckabee, Bob Vander Plaats has also recently gotten key endorsements from other prominent people and organizations supporting him for Governor of Iowa.  He has been endorsed by activist Chuck Norris, Can-Do Conservatives (grassroots organization for disabled conservative Americans), Keith Ratliff (president of the Iowa-Nebraska chapter of the NAACP, Michael Farris (a national leader in home-school education and the founder of Patrick Henry College), and David Barton of WallBuilders.

All of the Iowa leadership for Huck PAC would like to wish you and your family a blessed Christmas and New Year.

Bob Vander Plaats Event in Iowa

Bob Vander Plaats spoke at an event in Ottumwa, Iowa at the Bridge View Center. We had a great turnout....even many more than expected. Since there was not enough room in the 2 conference rooms I had reserved, a third room was opened up for additional seating.

Bob gave another great speech followed by a standing ovation and then he took several questions. He did an interview with KTVO Television just before the event started. He had to fly out early this morning to Texas where Chuck Norris is holding a fundraiser for his campaign in which about 40 Iowans are attending. For those of you who are new and to those who need a reminder our main site is www.huckpac.com which is where Governor Huckabee promotes the conservative principles of limited government, tax reform, controlled spending, 2nd Amendment rights, traditional marriage, and the sanctity of human life.  The Governor also endorses candidates across the nation who will promote these principles and works towards their election.  There are grassroots Team Huck in every state and I am one of the four Iowa Coordinators along with Randy Davis, Melody Borucki, and Jane Schneider.  Team Huck assists Huck PAC in promoting the conservative principles and candidates that our country is in desperate need of.  Right now there are three Huck PAC endorsed candidates from our state.  Bob Vander Plaats for Governor of Iowa, Bill Northey for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, and Charles Grassley for US Sentate

Iowa Hearts Governor Huckabee

On Sunday, November 8, Governor Huckabee made three stops in Iowa to promote his new book A Simple Christmas: Twelve Stories That Celebrate the True Holiday Spirit. As always, Iowans met the Governor with enthusiasm as there were great crowds at each of the three stops. Since his last book tour here a year ago for his New York Times Best Seller Do the Right Thing a lot has changed. He has the number one weekend cable show with Fox News' Huckabee, he has reached the 450 affiliate milestone with The Huckabee Report radio show, and he is now polling as the front runner for the 2012 Republican primary. The one thing that hasn't changed, however, is his ability to connect with the everyday American. While signing thousands of books, the Governor is still able to take time out and shake hands and to converse with his suppporters and know exactly where they are coming from.

The slideshow below is from one of the Iowa stops in which Huck PAC endorsed candidates Bob Vander Plaats and Senator Charles Grassley were also present.

Call Your Representative Now

The House of Representatives at this very minute is debating the Stupak-Pitts amendment, which is the only amendment that is being offered to explicitly exclude funding for abortion in the Democrat's health care bill.

This is going to be a close vote.  Call your Representative.  Tell them to vote Y on the Stupak-Pitts Amendment.

Remember to tell them the  Pitts-Stupak Amendment is the only amendment that provides clear language that prohibits federal funding of elective abortions and plans that cover elective abortion.

Call your Representatives now.

Thank you

Iowa Newsletter

Dear Team Huck Iowa,

So much is going on in the Huck PAC world!  I will start by recapping two very successful Huck PAC endeavors:

In September Team Huck Iowa hosted a fundraiser for endorsed candidate Bob Vander Plaats in Grimes, Iowa.  It was a great evening in which voters could listen to Bob speak and get on board with his team to help him become the next Governor of Iowa.  During this event Bob was also endorsed by fellow Team Huck member from Georgia and founder of Can-Do Conservatives, Brian Donegan.  You can read the complete recap of the event here.

Huck PAC also experienced tremendous response to Governor Huckabee's Balance, Cut, Save petition that encourages our elected leaders to balance the budget and cut spending in order to save the American family.  There were so many people wanting to sign the petition the the website crashed various times.  The 100,000 signature goal was quickly surpassed so it was upped to 150,000.  We are so close to that number and I encourage you to add your name to the petition if you haven't already.

There are also many new things going on with Team Huck Iowa:

First, Governor Mike Huckabee and Huck PAC have endorsed a third candidate in Iowa, Bill Northey for re-election as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture.  We welcome Bill and look forward to helping him win re-election in November of 2010.  Second, Team Huck Iowa has launched an online networking site in order to organize our volunteers and to get ready for the 2010 Republican primary and general election.  This networking site allows for groups to be created by county, volunteers to submit blog posts, events, and start discussions, and methods to interact with other members.  If you haven't joined, please do so!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

1.  House Party for Bob Vander Plaats hosted by Team Huck Story County Leaders on Friday, October 30, at Somerset Clubhouse, 2400 Aspen Rd., Ames, IA, from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

2.  Team Huck Iowa will have a booth at the Iowa Tea Party Statewide Convention.  The convention is Saturday, November 7, at Hy-Vee Hall, 730 3rd St., Des Moines, IA, from 12:00pm - 4:00 pm.  We would love other Team Huck members to stop by or volunteer your time at the booth.  Contact lorijungling@huckpacvolunteer.com if interested.

Never giving up,

Team Huck Iowa Hitting the Social Media

One can not overlook the importance of social media in politics in this day and age.  The internet has opened up a whole new world of information and the different networking devices out there have proved to be an instrumental tool in a campaign's success or failure.  One only has to look at the Mike Huckabee presidential campaign and how the online network of volunteers blogged, fundraised, and made phone calls in order to help take him to a top tier candidate finishing second in the 2008 Republican nomination process.  We're not finished yet.

Huck PAC is now broadening this online success and moving it to the state level in order to build a strong network of grassroots who will be instrumental in electing conservatives nationwide while communicating the importance of conservative values in our country today.  Iowa is doing these things and other states are also doing it or are in the process.

Team Huck Iowa can now be found on the Ning social networking site.  This network will allow each state to have their own interactive website for volunteers.  We have also expanded on facebook to a new fan page which will make it easier for us to update our members.  And as before, we are also on twitter which allows instant and quick updates to followers.

We are excited about taking over the social media world and know that it will be very valuable to us in the upcoming elections.
