Candidates
Duncan D. Hunter
For Congress 2010
California
Congressman Hunter has not hesitated to take a stand on the important issues of our time. As a former U.S. Marine Captain who served in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2002 and 2007, Duncan is the only combat veteran of the war on terror currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. Duncan Hunter believes that Government's most fundamental responsibility is to protect its citizens. He believes that we must strengthen and maintain our military to keep us safe, make sure the men and women servings us in uniform have the best equipment and training available, and take steps to eliminate government red tape and bureaucratic roadblocks that hamper our efforts to obtain new weapons and intelligence technology.
I urge you to support this outstanding Congressman. Learn more about him by visiting his web site.

David Harmer
For Congress 2010
California
David wants to grow the economy, not the government – he wants to balance the budget by curbing out of control spending, not by simply raising taxes. David will free up small businesses from suffocating taxation and regulation so they can make business decisions instead of tax decisions. David will fight to put an end to the government using taxpayer funds to bailout failing private companies.
David knows that when we reward irresponsibility and waste, we get more of the same.
David believes in the conservative values that make our country great – limited government is better than more government, lower taxes are better than higher taxes, that marriage is between one man and one woman and the sanctity of life.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting David Harmer for Congress.
Nick Popaditch
For Congress 2010
California
Now, Nick is once again going to serve and protect the liberties that make this nation truly exceptional, this time from liberals in Washington. Californians deserve a leader like Nick who’ll fight for limited government, champion a strong national defense and work to secure borders.
Nick believes that the only institution that should be deemed ‘too big to fail’ is the ‘the traditional American family.’ Nick Popaditch believes it is our duty to protect our families and protect every human life, without exception – because he understands that life begins at conception.
Huck PAC and I are proud to endorse Nick Popaditch for U.S. Congress. I hope you’ll join me in sending this great man to Congress, where he can continue fighting for what is right.”
Nick responded to the endorsement:
"I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Governor Mike Huckabee and Huck PAC. I admire the Governor's consistent display of moral courage and his ability to inspire others to follow his principled leadership. I will strive to uphold our mutual belief in smaller government, individual liberties, secure borders, protection of the unborn and traditional marriage.
Star Parker
For House of Representatives 2010
California
Van Tran
For Congress 2010
California
Van’s personal history is truly the American Dream. His family first came to America in 1975, having been evacuated by the U.S. Army a week before the fall of Saigon. Before serving the people of the 68th Assembly District in Orange County, Van was the managing partner of his own law practice. Van also served on the Garden Gove Planning Commission and served as Vice-Mayor of Garden Grove before being elected to the California State Assembly in 2004. In fact, Van became the first Vietnamese-American elected to any state’s legislature.
Assemblyman Van Tran has fought hard for his constituents in Sacramento with public safety as one of his top priorities. Serving as vice-chair of the Judiciary Committee as well as sitting on the Banking and Finance and Governmental Organization Committees – Van has the right knowledge and expertise to affect real positive change in the 47th district, all of California and Washington, D.C.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting Van Tran for Congress.

Governor Mike Huckabee visits the Lincoln Club of Sacramento
by California Coordinators
I was impressed immediately by Governor Huckabee's down to earth and personable nature, shaking each person's hand and exchanging pleasantries, I noticed he asked people to repeat their name if he did not hear or understand them which I found to be a very honest attempt to get to know us all. We all had the opportunity to engage the Governor on topics that are important to us. I personally was excited to connect with him on moral issues and values and how to promote them to today's teenagers.
I was pleased to see that Governor Huckabee did not just give talking point answers and discussed important social issues like abortion and how they actually become economic issues. We even engaged in the National Republican Senate Committee's NRSC) meddling in state primaries trying to essentially endorse candidates before the primary has even happened. In addition, I was very pleased with his discussion of the recent Mark Sanford scandal as well as his knowledge of California's economic woes.
Upon the conclusion of our private meeting with the Governor, we attended the Lincoln Club event and witnessed a brilliant speech by Governor Huckabee. The Lincoln Club even brought out the Mayor of Sacramento, Kevin Johnson (Democrat). The organizer of the event was very pleased with the turnout and it was clear that the Governor was to thank.
This was an incredibly motivating experience and I look forward to continued work on behalf of Huck PAC promoting strong, Conservative candidates for public office.

I am truly frightened for my children and my descendants when I consider the country that they are presently on course to inherit. By the agenda of the president, his enablers in Washington, and the Leftists in the state capitol building here in Sacramento, we are leaving our children a state and country that are worse off than what we inherited. With the pending federal health care legislation, we and our children are “this close” to becoming fully owned and controlled peons of the state – permanently.
We have a president who goes around the world speaking and acting as though the United States is a perennial culprit. Even before the election he began saying, “We’re going to fundamentally change America.” That was not benign campaign rhetoric. He doesn’t intend just to fix some things here or make some adjustments there, he intends to change out the very fundamentals – the values in the Declaration and the Constitution – upon which our country is built because he believes that they are fundamentally flawed. He has called our Constitution “a charter of negative liberties.”
I firmly believe that most Americans – even many of the ones who voted for this president and want to “give him a chance” – do not share his sentiments regarding our country, and already some are beginning to feel offense at his denigrations. Patriots on both sides of the aisle long still to believe in the goodness, the graciousness, the exceptionalism and the glory of America.
It is upon this difference that conservatives have an advantage; this is where we will find victory. We don’t need to change our values or become more moderate. “Re-branding” is not the answer. No, we will find our way out of the wilderness when we begin to offer a counter-point to Obama’s “fundamental transformation of America.” I am fully convinced that the remedy to our plight is to incite a great awakening by calling boldly for a rediscovery, a rebirth, of our founding values.
Of course we need to be right on points of policy, and we need to offer innovative solutions and an attractive presentation, but those are not enough. The moderate and the young postmodernist whom we might never win over on “the issues” will come to our camp when their hearts are stirred to envision an America that they can believe in. They need to hear the great stories of the shining city on a hill. They need to know that America hasn’t progressed and improved in spite of its fundamentals but because of those fundamentals. They deserve to know the true record: that although America was born into an imperialist and slave-holding world, it was America – as the writings of Jefferson and Lincoln tell us – that was born with the promise deliberately embedded into her birth certificate that a subsequent generation would fully realize liberty for all – and this they did a mere four score and seven years later.
Americans will then be able to discern that the fundamentals as found in the Declaration and the Constitution are the true agents of hope and change – not the sophistry of some demagogue.
Governor Huckabee, in this most perilous time, I believe that this is the prescription by which Republicans will find their way and by which Americans can rediscover their birthright before it is too late. We need to spread an infectious sense of pride in the America of her fundamentals.
For America and our children,
Brian Snow

We Are Team Huck - At The Reagan Library
by Michael Ranson - California Coordinator
The crowd at the Library was incredibly enthusiastic in their welcoming of Mike Huckabee. The room roared with excitement to see Mike Huckabee escorting former First Lady Nancy Reagan to her seat. My family was blessed to be on the aisle of their entry and close enough to say hello as they passed. When Mrs. Reagan walked by she reached out and touched my arm in response to my saying, Thank you for being here. It was one of those brief moments in life that will never be forgotten. Mrs. Reagan is a vibrant and graceful presence and it is easy to understand why she is loved by so many.
Mike Huckabee's lecture was a real crowd pleaser. It was a mixture of serious topics broken up with unique Huckabee humor. I was pleased that he took the opportunity to speak about health care, education (including creative arts education), the Fair Tax and our economy. The audience was very receptive and frequently interrupted the lecture with applause. At the end of the lecture, Huckabee took a few questions from the crowd. He joked about Q & A really meaning, question and avoidance but he did not avoid anything. He answered all questions with his usual wit and wisdom.
The dinner followed the lecture and took place in the Air Force One Pavilion. The Pavilion houses the actual Air Force One airplane that Reagan used during his presidency. Its a beautiful building with clear-story glass that looks out across the expansive views. As we dined under the impressive Air Force One, the sunset was incredible across the golden hills and valley.
The next day, my family returned to the Reagan Library for the full tour. We wandered through the self-guided tour to learn more about the life of our 40th President. When visiting the replica of the Oval Office I noticed a sign on the desk that read, It CAN be done. It was an inspiration. At times we can all feel overwhelmed as volunteers when we think of all the hard work that HuckPAC does for conservative candidates across the country. It is sometimes easy to be discouraged by the apology tours, new policies and change our country is going through. Thinking of the enormous task ahead I do sometimes wonder how one volunteer can make a difference. The reality is that I am not just one volunteer. You are not just one volunteer. We are a team. We are a team with thousands of members. Each day we offer what we can. Whether a blog post, a donation, a tweet on twitter, a wall post on facebook or telling others about our team, it is a valuable contribution. Together we are strong and we continue to gain strength and momentum each day. We are Team Huck and together, It CAN be done.

I listened with great interest to your show tonight between 9:00 and 10:00 pm on the topic of selective reduction. If only I had been able to call in and offer my two cents.
If you find that my opinion offered here merits consideration, then please share it with your audience at your next opportunity.
My wife and I brought children into this world with the assistance of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Before doing so, we looked deeply into the issues attached to IVF, established our boundaries, the proceeded deliberately. Today we have four beautiful children: three girls and one boy.
The cardinal principle from which we operated is a moral one: every embryo created should be given the best possible chance at continuing its natural life cycle, i.e. being implanted, brought to term, and delivered to realize its potential. Since we believe that one should not create persons with intention to destroy them (as in selective reduction), we precluded this concern by fertilizing eggs conservatively, and only two embryos at a time were implanted in their mother’s womb. None were “reduced,” thrown away, or otherwise destroyed. When one rolls the dice conservatively, one risks getting nothing for the $16,000 they paid for an IVF cycle. There is a cost to living within boundaries, but, more often than not, a higher cost to living without them.
I must interject here regarding the term “created.” Actually, neither we nor science created anything. Simplified, IVF is just a facilitation of the meeting of the natural ingredients after which the resulting new lives are placed in their natural environment until transition to the next stage of their life cycle. For science truly to create an embryo, scientists would construct the organelles and other sub-cellular structures from scratch, then assemble them into a complete respirating and functioning embryo. Perhaps it is more correct to say that science “facilitates” what usually happens naturally.
The point I kept hearing you make more than any other during the hour on this topic was this: if we’re okay with employing science to “create” life, then shouldn’t we also be okay with employing science to extinguish that same life? (I hope I repeated your thought accurately enough.)
To test your assertion, let me then offer a scenario and a question. Suppose a woman brings sextuplets to term whose genesis had been facilitated by IVF. That is, without the intervention of science, those six children would not exist. Two years go by, and the woman realizes that she has not the means to care for all six of the children, to provide adequate nourishment and otherwise any foreseeable “quality of life” for all of them. Since science helped to bring these children into the world, would you then argue that the woman should be offered a legally-protected prerogative to employ science toward the termination of the lives of any of her toddlers? Why not? …because a toddler is a person, but the unborn is…..is what?
What is the unborn?
Is the unborn a person?
This then is the crux of the controversial life issues, of the debate over selective reduction, of the debate over abortion.
Given any scenario, given any quandary, if you wouldn’t advocate taking the life of a toddler, then why would you advocate taking the life of the unborn?
It always comes down to this one question: Is the unborn a person?
We agree that at some point along the life cycle of a human, that human becomes a person. Is it at the very beginning? Is it at the end of the first trimester? Is it at birth? Is it, as Peter Singer asserts, when a human becomes aware of her desire to survive (between two and three years old)?
It seems to me that the onus is on the advocate of selective reduction (or abortion) to discover honestly when a human becomes person, and then not to breach a zone of moral safety within which that threshold exists. Otherwise, he becomes guilty of, or at least complicit in, the taking of lives of innocent persons.
Regarding selective reduction, discussion of whether personhood is achieved at conception isn’t really necessary because that’s not when selective reduction is performed. No, selective reduction is often performed at twelve weeks gestation, and is almost always performed between ten and twelve weeks gestation. At this stage, the little person has fingers and toes, and its heart has been pumping since the seventeenth day after conception. Take a look at any human embryology text; what I’m saying is true.
Yes, I said “person.”
Neither size, level of development, environment, nor degree of dependency eliminates or precludes personhood.
My daughters are not non-persons because they are smaller than me.
My son is not a non-person by virtue of being less developed than me.
There is nowhere I can go where I become a non-person by virtue of being in that place.
Dependency upon an insulin pump does not cause one to be a non-person. My young children are dependent upon me or another adult for their survival (remove their caretaker, and see whether they last more than a week), but I doubt you would argue that they are non-persons.
Therefore, I hold that the unborn is a person and that every embryo created should be given the best possible chance at continuing its natural life cycle. Certainly, no human life should be created if the intention from the outset is to destroy it.
Sincerely,
Brian S.
Sacramento
PS – I hope that you, an agnostic, will appreciate that I had no need to invoke religion to make the case for the personhood of the unborn. As our Declaration says: These truths are self-evident… Brian Snow Embryo Images

The California Supreme Court by a near unanimous vote of 6 to 1, upheld Proposition 8, which they should have. This is the second time that the people of California had affirmed traditional marriage with their votes, and this time, the Court accepted that the role of the court is to uphold the Constitution—not to re-write it. On November 4, 2008 voters in California approved this new amendment to the California Constitution, which says “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”
Marriage should be defined as a marriage between one man and one woman. I support a federal constitutional amendment that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman so that we can have a clear affirmation of the only definition of marriage that has existed throughout history and which in fact reflects the beliefs of people on both side of the political spectrum, including President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton..

Dear Mr. Steele,
Thank you for the opportunity to donate to the Republican National Committee. At this time all donations I make go directly to Mike Huckabee and his political action committee, www.HuckPAC.com. I have found that Mike Huckabee shares the values I hold dear and he consistently articulates the vision I'd like to see in our party and our great country. While other leaders in our party attempt to "re-connect" and "re-define", Mike Huckabee has already engaged me, and thousands more, as an active participant for positive change. We have joined together and we continue to grow. Our common bond is the inspiration found in the leadership of Mike Huckabee. He continually motivates us to get involved at all levels of government and make a difference in the direction of our country.
I would like to encourage you to learn more about our growing grassroots movement. I am certain that you find that we are the members of the party that you must "re-connect" with in order to "re-define" for success in the future. If you would like to learn more at this time, please visit www.huckpac.com. You are also welcome to contact me direct at michaelranson@huckpacvolunteer.com.

Team Huck California Attends The CRA Annual Convention
by David Schmidt, Michael Ranson - California Coordinators
Between the many sessions, CRA members had the opportunity to visit the Team Huck/Huck PAC table and learn more about our grassroots efforts. Our table featured information on the mission of HuckPAC and how to sign up for Team Huck. We also provided additional flyers on issues supported by HuckPAC along with campaign material, buttons and stickers for the HuckPAC endorsed candidate Duncan D. Hunter for Congress. One great feature at our table was the “live” laptop computer which allowed anyone who was interested to browse the HuckPAC website on the spot. Our efforts were received well by the many Huckabee supporters attending the convention. In addition, we were able to attract many new people to the table and educate them on the efforts of Team Huck.
Team Huck is a group of grassroots volunteers that have decided to “get involved” and make a difference in the direction of their country. Whether you have the time to volunteer over an entire weekend, donate financially or make phone calls to voters from home, all participation is needed and appreciated. If you haven’t signed up for Team Huck and joined our efforts, we encourage you to do so today. Together we have the opportunity and the strength to make positive change for our country.
Please join us today.
